Appellate Advocacy

Drawing on his previous experience in private practice and his prior government service, which involved appearing in state and federal trial and appellate courts at virtually every level—from the South Carolina Circuit Court, South Carolina Court of Appeals, and the South Carolina Supreme Court to the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States—Thomas is uniquely positioned to represent clients in appellate matters where legal complexity intersects with issues of strategic significance to public or private parties. 

Thomas also understands that, in many cases, developing a comprehensive appellate strategy must begin well before the final judgment.  To that end, in addition to utilizing his experience with briefing and arguments in appellate and original jurisdiction matters, Limehouse assists clients and their existing counsel with post-trial positioning, coalition building, preparing moot arguments, and coordinating intentional amicus strategies.
